Day 12: Wetsuit wiggle

Today my aquasphere Wetsuit rental arrived from www.tristore.com and good god are they hard to wiggle into. After assistance from a brother and my mother I finally got into it. Honestly I know there built to keep the water out but surely I’m meant to be able to get into it??

After much effort getting in then came getting out. By the way, just as difficult! A tug of war ensued between me, the suit, my mam and my feet… And now I’m free my diet just got stricter if I’m swimming in that thing I’m losing another 5kg cause seriously that things unreal.

I can move in it and swim in it but getting in and out has to got get a little bit easier surely? Tips welcome, very welcome!!!

Oh and how sweaty are they?

Not long now…

I’ve ordered my wetsuit, and it’s just dawned on me how very little time there is now until my big swim – More practice is needed!! But I know I can do it, it’s my aim of an hour that is daunting.

But in order to up the sponsorship I thought I’d see if any of you lovely people who take the time to read my blog would like to sponsor me. So here is the link for my justgiving page:

The smallest amount makes a massive difference. So in advance, thank you.

Training Session #3

I did it – tonight with Coach Heathers encouragement I swam a mile, in 63 minutes, so just over an hour.

And as a sign of that achievement I started up my fundraising page with justgiving.com

So start donating. I’m fundraising for Myeloma UK which is a charity that works with this specific cancer which sadly has affected my family and is something that personally I would like to see people are made more aware of. And most importantly I would like to see a cure in my lifetime…

Thank you xoxo

Training session #1

Ok so today training commenced, and weaning oneself in gently is the way forward. My aim, to do the final mile in 1.5 hours…

So off I went, with Heather of Stormford Golden’s as “coach”. Well if I try to do the whole thing in a combination of breast stroke and paddling on my back I’ll do grand. I can do a 25 metre length in breast stroke at a length a minute, for 30 minutes!! Then I start to slow.

“Coach” then went all hard-ass and demanded I swim front crawl, sadly I can swim the first length like a dolphin on speed… The following lengths not so much, I need to learn discipline and steady my pace. But I managed to do 2 lengths on front crawl eventually, and then totalled 4. Go me!

In total I successfully completed 50 lengths in 60 minutes… So even if I do it in breast stroke I’ll be well in my time. But this is only early days, I’ll get there eventually!!

Wait until I have to start my wild swimming training, that’s when the fun really starts.

Splashy, Splashy

Well people, I have decided – as crazily as it may sound – to take part in the Great North Swim 2012. Yes, that’s right, I’m going to attempt to train for and swim 1 mile (I chickened out on the 2 mile, but maybe in  2013, if we all live that long?)

So now I have something new to entertain you all with, my training. The swim is an open-water swim in Windermere, the Lake District.

So what with my new Pole Dancing lessons, Swimming and dog training sessions I should be fit as a lop by the time the end of the world is upon us… ha ha.
