Earthwatch

“Earthwatch is an international environmental charity which is committed to conserving the diversity and integrity of life on earth to meet the needs of current and future generations.”

Most of my blog posts have been about my times during my Earthwatch Expedition in 2010 with a lovely bunch of ladies from America. I am now an avid believer in volunteering and the education that we all need in order to help sustain our little green planet. However I also know that many of us are too “busy” to look at how “trivial” things such as recycling are, but even so every little helps – so from simply remembering to turn off lights to save energy, to conserving water by only having a quick shower instead of a bath we can all do our bit.

Personally however I am more interested in how what we do affects not just our environment but the other species who co-exist within this shared world. This for some of my many friends who are reading this will seem like a conflict of interests, however… Yes I may be involved in shooting and other sports but without these sports some of the species which are helped by the controlled environment for the benefit of game birds would not exist – and I like to think that although there are negatives to this there are also many positives to balance the argument. I am just one of the lucky few who is able to look at both sides of the coin with an open mind.

Rodent Trapping

I intend doing  more Earthwatch volunteer expeditions in the future as I found the experience incredibly rewarding and a little bit life altering, if there is one thing I’d recommend to anybody this would be it!!
